Shopping in Larissa

I don't know why, but when people travel they shop. Everyone that goes anywhere always comes back with an extra suitcase for all the souvenirs, clothes, gadgets and whatever else they have purchased while away from home. And of course let's not forget that people do a lot of shopping even if they don't travel. But shopping in a new place is like conquering virgin territory, it's just more exciting. So I figured that no visitors/new residence guide for Larissa is complete without a look at the shops.

Paris Kills

Paris Kills

When I walked into "Paris Kills" I knew this was no ordinary clothing store. On the left wall I saw some large animal dissection hooks that reminded me of the movie "HellRaiser". Further into the store I saw a guillotine. I then noticed a man covered in blood breaking through the wall over my head. Was I in Madame Tussaud's wax museum in London? How did I get here? I had to think back, did I ride an airplane to get here? No, I must still be in Larissa on #17 Labrou Katsoni Street near the city center. This was no ordinary clothing store. The clothes here are very modern, and are imported from everywhere including the last name in fashion from places like Prague and Paris. What impressed me the most was the selection. I can compare most clothing stores to T.V. Sometimes you have 100 channels and there is nothing good to watch. Well, Paris Kills is not like that. Here you will find a small selection of very unique and very artistic clothes. I have not seen clothes like this anyplace else, not even Athens. But I also noticed traditional but hard to find casual clothes too. Things like T-shirts with bands like slipknot, Iron Maiden, even oldies like Bob Marley or the Clash. Even if you don't want to buy any clothes, you need to go to this place just to see the decore. Oh, and by the way, The name is from the phrase "Paris kills the competition", and is used because of the owners admiration for Paris being ahead of the game in art and fashion.

Ena Spiti san Kremastra

Yes I know that this shop has a funny sounding name in English, but it also sounds funny in Greek. The name literally means "A house like a coat hanger". And what makes this shop unique is that everything is completely hand made.
This shop makes you remember the good old days that our parents used to tell us about. A simple time when the family worked together to bring home the daily bread. This little store is located on #8, 28th October street and is owned by two very likable sisters that have decided to share their artistic skills with the whole community. I honestly felt a comfortable warm feeling when I entered this shop, and I am not even a very sentimental person (not that there is anything wrong with that). Seriously though, this family owned and operated shop has decorations for your house, little trinkets, paintings, signs, jewelery and so much more. All handmade by two sisters who have decided to make Larissa a better place by turning their hobby into a profession.
